I had the honor of being trained to climb whilst serving in the CAW of the RMVR in 1960s. Also had his book for many years. A man who was dowm to earth guy and worthy of high praise. RIP.

Agree with the quality level dropped after Brasher were acquired by Berghaus. My wife had them as Brasher and lasted her several years, she had a Berghaus branded pair and the sole fell off after 18 months of light use.

Comment on Lakeland walker ‘paralysed by exposure’ rescued from Cat Bells scramble by Mark GM

Mark GM — Wed, 08 Jul 2026 08:11:59 +0000

I regularly walk in Cumbria, I subscribe to Cumbria and Lakeland Walker mag. I generally only do the walks they suggest (as the people that write them are far more experienced than I am). They are graded so you know how difficult they are going to be. Also I have a weather app on my phone which tells you what the weather will be like. So if I’m going high up I’ll check specialist sites.

Not very hard to prepare these days. Even if you haven’t got a mag there are ample sources and daily updates.

Personally I think people should be fined for undue care and attention if the rescue is from incompetence.

Excellent review! I found this article both informative and practical. The detailed insights into the performance, comfort, and functionality of technical underwear make it much easier for readers to understand what features truly matter. It’s great to see a thorough evaluation that goes beyond appearance and focuses on real-world wearability. Thanks for sharing such a helpful and well-balanced assessment!
