Edale Mountain Rescue team needs your help.

If you’re a climber, a runner or a walker you can add a few pounds to their coffers by taking part next month in a 20-mile challenge.

The Derbyshire team is running the Nine Edges Endurance – a course starting at Fairholmes visitor centre at Ladybower Reservoir and finishing at a pub near Baslow.

The route takes in nine gritstone edges, hence the name, and costs £10 to enter, though the MRT is asking participants to consider sponsorship to boost funds. The challenge takes place on Sunday, 17 September.

Climbers have the chance of putting in a route on one of the edges while taking part. Walkers and climbers have a staggered start between 7.30 and 9.30am, with runners setting off en masse at 10am.

The Nine Edges aims to raise cash for a £150,000 appeal for a new HQ. The team currently uses a bay of a vehicle maintenance depot in a cement works in Hope. This has meant severe limitations for the team, but they have been offered the chance to develop a new base on a different part of the site, owned by Lafarge, and the appeal is towards this new building and the equipment needed to run the team.
