No need to wait until 2012, you can take part in the Olympics next week.

For the first time, the British Cave Research Association is holding a Speleo-olympics at its Hidden Earth national caving conference and exhibition. Fastest team of two to complete the course, involving ‘all the squirming and thrutching that you have done underground’ will win bottle of Champagne and their names etched on to a unique trophy.

Hidden Earth takes place over the weekend of 22 to 24 September at Leek in Staffordshire and you can still book your place, as long as you get online before this Sunday.
On-site camping is available and the timetable for lectures is on the Hidden Earth website.
