The John Muir Trust (JMT), the campaigning body for wild places, is running a writers’ competition.

Entries, up to 1,200 words long, will form part of the Fort William Mountain Festival 2007. Prize is, er… to be published in the trust’s journal.

Still, if that’s reward enough for you and you fancy seeing your prose in print, visit the JMT website for details. Entries should be on the theme of wild places, wild journeys and can be either fact or fiction.

The trust is also running a children’s poetry competition, if any ankle biters are interested, in both Gaelic and English. The festival takes place next February.
