A nine-year-old Cub is claiming the title of the youngest walker to bag all the Wainwright peaks.

Jordan Ross took five years to conquer all 214 of the hills in Alfred Wainwright’s guides to the Lakeland Fells. He completed the task at the age of nine years, seven months, beating the previous holder Ellen Regan who was three months older when she completed her tally by summiting Scafell Pike.

Jordan’s started his quest on Catbells when he was four years old, and completed the round on Castle Crag last month. The young fellwalker also has Ben Nevis and Snowdon under his belt.

He received a Long Distance Walkers’ certificate from his Group Scout Leader Peter Jackson. His mum Raksha said: “We are very proud of him and he is now looking for his next challenge. We are trying to steer him away from Everest and towards the outlying fells in Cumbria – until he is a bit older anyway!”
