Walkers can now access a royal park again after foot-and-mouth-disease restrictions were lifted.

Windsor Great Park was closed in September when the infection was discovered at a farm in Egham, Surrey. Now the public is free to visit all areas of the park, including the Deer Park, the Long Walk and Valley Gardens.

Deputy ranger Philip Everett said: “I am delighted to announce Windsor Great Park is to reopen and we are looking forward to welcoming the public back to enjoy its beautiful autumn colours.

“Staff at The Crown Estate have missed the many people who use the park, and the vibrancy that horse riders, joggers, cyclists and walkers bring to the park.”
