Signs have been placed to warn those setting off on the 95-mile trail to use the alternative route out of the north Glasgow suburb. The first section of the way will be closed until the works are completed.

An East Dunbartonshire Council spokesman said: “The short diversionary route will direct walkers along Mugdock Road, crossing at the traffic lights over Ellangowan Road and re-joining the original route.”
