The walker who fell to his death from Crib Goch last Friday has been named.

David Stafford, of Barrowby, near Grantham, Lincolnshire, was pronounced dead at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor after being airlifted from the mountainside. An inquest has been opened and adjourned on the 62-year-old father of three.

Mr Stafford fell from the ridge on to the north side of the edge while tackling the route with his companion. Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team and a team from RAF Valley, on Anglesey, went to his aid.

Mr Stafford, who had two daughters and a son, worked as a volunteer for Sustrans and was a keen and experienced walker.
