A woman was helped from a Cumbrian fell after falling and injuring her ankle at the weekend.

The walker, from Croglin, near Carlisle, slipped while walking on the fells above Hayeswater, near The Knott on Sunday. Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by police to the woman’s plight.

She was treated at the scene of the incident then stretchered to Hayeswater where a Land Rover ambulance took her to the team’s HQ in Patterdale, from where the woman’s husband drove her to hospital in Carlisle for further treatment.

Penrith MRT also helped in the operation.

A 68-year-old woman had to be rescued from the Lost Valley in Glencoe on Saturday.

    Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team went to the woman’s aid after she slipped and fell. She was helped from the scene and then taken to Belford Hospital, Fort William, with minor head injuries.
