The body of a man was found by a walker at a Snowdonia beauty spot.

Members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation were called to the site at the top of Aber Falls yesterday evening, Tuesday, to recover the body, which was lying in a pool.

A Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley on Anglesey airlifted the body from the site.

Members of the rescue team spent more than four hours at the scene of the incident, north of the Carneddau, recovering the man’s remains and gathering evidence along with officers from North Wales Police.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said a post-mortem examination on the man would be carried out this afternoon, Wednesday. They are not treating his death as suspicious.

No further details of the dead man are being released at present.

The falls – Rhaeadr Fawr in Welsh – lie about 3km (2 miles) south of the village of Abergwyngregyn.
