It may be winter outside, but in Helly Hansen’s heart it’s spring.
The Norwegian company is launching a range of high-performance outdoor wear aimed firmly at the energetic enthusiast as part of its spring collection.
The new range includes the Pace series of technical t-shirts, jerseys, shorts and tights for men and women, along with lightweight Windfoil and Airfoil windproof jackets likely to be of most interest to runners, mountain bikers and high-energy hillgoers looking for protection.
The company is also introducing an expanded range of Odin gear – top of the range waterproofs aimed at mountain guides, with an Odin Lightweight Jacket. The brand has also expanded its versatile rainwear collection to include the lightweight, durable Dakota and Anchorage Jackets for men, and Aspen and Vancouver Jackets for women.
The Pace series uses Helly’s HH Cool fabric – a combination of the established LIFA base, which pulls moisture away from the body, and a polyester outer layer to help keep the mountain athlete cool.
Helly says its LIFA Stay Dry technology is 40 per cent lighter and 60 per cent drier than alternatives.
The collection includes:
- The Pace SS, an athletic jersey tee with advanced dry fibre and air circulation features. Also available in a half zip version for greater ventilation and available for men and women with a suggested retail price of £30.
- The Pace Stripe SS for men and Pace Singlet for women designed to minimise chafing and maximise comfort with a seamless construction and highly breathable design. Pace Stripe SRP £36; Pace Singlet SRP £26.The Windfoil Jacket – athletic fitting, windproof jacket featuring zip off sleeves for adjustment when training in different temperatures. LIFA has been placed in the shoulders to offer increased stretch for a range of activities. Other features include: UPF 30+, zip pockets and reflective trims. Available for men and women. SRP £80
- The Airfoil Jacket – an athletic fitting windbreaker, which can be packed into its own pocket and easily stored in a backpack, aimed at runners who need lightweight protection from the elements. Available for men and women. SRP £60.

10 December 2010dissapointed to see a gear advert passed off as news!
Bob
11 December 2010It's a fair point Robert, though I have to stress no money has passed from Helly Hansen to grough, though of course our context-sensitive advertising will pick up the fact that we have a story about the company's gear on that page.
We don't have much gear news at the moment but if we do expand this area, we'll create a dedicated section as a service to readers and this would be separate from our general news category.
Until then, the only place we can put such a piece is in the news section.
We believe many readers will be interested in new products; others won't.
We'd love to please everyone, but it's not always possible.
