The walker was rescued using Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team's boat

Mountain rescuers used their specialist boat to rescue a woman who fell on a lakeside path.

The 57-year-old walker, from Lincoln, slipped today while walking alongside Ullswater between Sandwick and Patterdale and injured her wrist.

A spokesperson for the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, which was alerted about 4.35pm, said: “The team reached the casualty site using the team’s rescue boat.

“The air ambulance had landed near the casualty site, but due to the location of the casualty and the nature of the terrain, it was decided that the best evacuation route was via the lake.

“After receiving treatment the woman was transferred in the rescue boat back to Patterdale.”
