A man facing charges following the discovery of a 4×4 vehicle on Wales’s highest mountain has elected to be tried at Crown Court.
Craig Williams, 39, of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, is accused of dangerous driving in the incident on 3 September in which a maroon Vauxhall Frontera was parked 300m from the summit of Snowdon.
He denied dangerous driving when he appeared before Caernarfon Magistrates and told the court he was opting for jury trial. The freelance vehicle recovery agent also faces a charge of driving a vehicle on common land or moorland or land not part of a road.
Mr Williams was bailed to appear for a committal hearing in Caernarfon on 2 December.
- A 39-year-old man remains on police bail following an incident in which the Vauxhall Frontera was found behind the Hafod Eryri visitor centre on the mountain’s 1,085m (3,560ft) summit on 29 September.

07 October 2011I'd like to obtain more on this story. Were you at Caernarfon magistrates' court or is this a lift from the BBC Wales website?
Bob
07 October 2011The media are constrained by the Magistrates Court Act 1980 from reporting anything other than strictly defined points until committed cases come to trial.
This is to ensure fair jury trials for defendants are not prejudiced.
