Grisedale, scene of the rescue

A walker was rescued from a Lakeland fell after injuring her leg.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out by Cumbria police at 4.15pm on Thursday after the 60-year-old from Warrington suffered a suspected broken ankle while walking in Grisedale.

Nine volunteer members of the team went to the woman’s aid and she was treated at the site on the fell before being taken to the team’s Land Rover, which was used to take her to the Patterdale rescue base.

She was then taken to hospital for further treatment. The rescue lasted two hours.
