Members of the public have the chance to meet the Walking With The Wounded team members at three stores

Outdoor fans are being offered to meet the men who tackled the world’s highest mountain during three free events at branches of a specialist retailer.

Cotswold Outdoor has teamed up with Norwegian brand Helly Hansen to stage the evenings with members of the Walking With The Wounded team that attempted Everest earlier this year.

The five wounded servicemen made their pitch for Everest’s summit in spring, but were forced back when conditions on the mountain deteriorated making further progress too dangerous.

During the exclusive evenings at Cotswold Outdoor stores, members of the public will be treated to a 45 minute presentation about the adventure, from the tough training schedule and extreme highs and lows endured, to the camaraderie, teamwork and lifelong friendships formed.

All those attending the event will be given the opportunity to speak to members of the team, on a one-to-one basis, and will be given the opportunity for autograph signing and to take photographs.

All visitors will be presented with their very own Helly Hansen goodie bag, and the first 100 people to attend will also receive a Helly Hansen wash bag.

Since returning to the UK, the team has experienced widespread popularity, and with Walking With The Wounded’s patron Prince Harry’s continued support, they have continued to raise awareness about the importance of the charity through the ITV documentary Harry’s Mountain Heroes.

Tickets to the event are free, and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Members of the public need to contact their local store to obtain tickets.

The events will be held on the following dates and locations:

  • Cotswold Outdoor Leeds, The Core Shopping Centre, Wednesday 26 September at 6.30pm
  • Cotswold Outdoor Newcastle, Northumberland Street, Thursday 18 October at 6.30pm
  • Cotswold Outdoor Birmingham, Piccadilly Arcade, Wednesday 7 November at 7pm.

Helly Hansen provided clothing and equipment for the 2012 Everest expedition by the wounded soldiers.
