A charity is appealing for walkers to join its ascent of Wales’s highest mountain to raise cash for its coffers.

The British Red Cross, which provides humanitarian aid to disaster victims both in the UK and abroad, wants hillwalkers to trek to the top of Snowdon next summer.

The 16km (10-mile) walk will follow the Llanberis path up and down the 1,085m (3,560ft) mountain.

The event is rated challenging by the charity, and participants will need a reasonable level of fitness. The supported walk will take between six and eight hours, and will take place on 6 July next year.

The start and finish will be at the Electric Mountain Visitor Centre in Llanberis.

Registration for the event costs and £10 and the British Red Cross is looking for a minimum of £100 sponsorship from each participant.

More details are on the Red Cross website.
