Two mountain rescue teams were involved in helping the occupants of a minibus stuck on ice on a Lake District pass.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at about 8.30pm yesterday evening and was joined colleagues from Keswick at the incident.

The bus, which had four passengers on board, had become wedged against the side of the road.

Nine Cockermouth team members were involved in the rescue.

A Cockermouth MRT spokesperson said: “The teams managed to extract the minibus and drive both the minibus and occupants back down to Buttermere.”
