Cash from sales of the badges will go to Scotland's mountain rescue teams

Outdoor fans will be able to help mountain rescue teams while they buy their gear north of the border.

Retailer GO Outdoors will from today sell Scottish mountain rescue supporter badges, with proceeds going to the volunteer teams.

The badges, priced £1, will be on sale at the tills of the retailer’s four shops across Scotland.

Jonathan Hart, chairman of the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland said: “We are delighted to enter this relationship with GO Outdoors and thank them for their support of Scottish mountain rescue.

“We see this as a first step in a new relationship with GO Outdoors to support the world-class work of rescue teams in Scotland.”

Gordon Cadden, store manager of the Inverness branch of GO Outdoors said: “We have a UK-wide scheme to support mountain rescue; money raised was donated to Mountain Rescue England & Wales.

“It is right that money raised in our four Scottish stores supports Scottish mountain rescue and we are pleased to work with the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland to make that happen.”
