Police have confirmed the body found on the Isle of Skye at the weekend was that of missing walker Oliver Smith.

Dr Smith, a lecturer at St Andrews University, failed to return after heading out for a walk on Blàbheinn on 6 April.

The body of the 33-year-old was found on Sunday.

After his disappearance, a large search took place involving Skye, Glenelg, Kintail and RAF Mountain Rescue Teams, along with members of the Search and Rescue Dogs Association.

Police Scotland said today: “Circumstances are not believed to be suspicious. A report will be made to the procurator fiscal.”
