A walker was airlifted from a Lake District fell after injuring his leg.

The 42-year-old, from Essex, was on Hay Stacks today when he injured his knee and ankle.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 2.45pm and 15 volunteer members took part in the rescue.

The team’s doctors treated the man at the scene before he was flown to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven by the North West Air Ambulance.
