Leading boot brand brasher saw its sales increase by 30 per cent in the first half of this year, compared to 2012.

The Sunderland-based company said demand for its established products, along with its new models, helped boost sales.

It also said effective sourcing and stock control ensured its boots and socks were available in UK shops.

Its most popular boot, the Hillmaster, was relaunched last year in the guise of the new Hillmaster II GTX.

The Hillwalker II GTX was also introduced in 2012, with the lightweight Supalite Active GTX hitting the stores earlier this year.

brasher finance director David Kennedy said: “There is great momentum behind brasher at the moment.

“For 2013 we have put together a really strong package for the UK market.

“The range is strong, with the Hillwalker and Supalite Active helping to attract new consumers to brasher, while long established products continue to perform very well in store.

“As always, we find that when we use a strong marketing campaign to remind walkers about the Hillmaster, they respond really positively, reinforcing its position as Britain’s best loved walking boot.

“With a good ongoing position on stock availability for immediate orders, brasher has been making great strides so far in 2013 and we are hopeful that we can sustain that for the rest of the year.”
