Walkers in the Horton area were asked to look out for the missing man

A man who sparked a police appeal for sightings in the Yorkshire Three Peaks area has been arrested.

Searches in Cumbria and Horton in Ribblesdale in North Yorkshire followed the disappearance of Michael Tordoff-Brown after he failed to turn up for trial at Leeds Crown Court.

The 49-year-old, from Wortley, Leeds, faces sexual offences charges. He was arrested early today in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

Police said he was detained without incident.

West Yorkshire Police appealed at the weekend for walkers and other outdoor enthusiasts to be on the lookout for the fugitive after his car was found in Horton in Ribblesdale.
