The woman was airlifted from Ben Nevis after injuring her leg

A walker was airlifted from Britain’s highest mountain after breaking her ankle in a slip.

The woman called for help about 4pm yesterday after the incident on the mountain track up Ben Nevis.

Police said she injured herself near Windy Corner.

A member of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team who was already on the mountain helped the woman while a Royal Navy Sea King search and rescue helicopter flew to the scene from HMS Gannet in Ayrshire.

The walker was flown to Belford Hospital in Fort William where she received treatment for her broken ankle.

Police Scotland said she requested no further details be released.
