A major search is underway for a walker missing on the Isle of Skye.

The man, in his 60s, was reported overdue from a trip to the Cuillin range yesterday.

Police Scotland said they were alerted at about 9.40pm but, because of poor visibility on the hills, a search was postponed until today.

Skye Mountain Rescue Team has been joined by the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter in the search for the man in the Coir’a’Ghrundda, south of Sgùrr Alasdair.

A police spokesperson said no further details were available at present.
