An outdoor footwear company has stepped in to help victims of flooding in the West Country.

Keen sent 200 pairs of boots and 140 pairs of socks to a distribution centre in Bridgwater, Somerset, for those affected by the major inundation in the Somerset Levels.

Almost 100 pairs of insulated and waterproof boots have already been allocated to men, women and children in the area after they arrived at the flood relief distribution centre late on Friday.

Large parts of the low-lying Levels have been under water since New Year, following the wettest winter since records began.

Keen, based in Portland, Oregon, is best known for its walking sandals but is increasingly expanding its range of footwear, which now includes trail shoes and walking boots.
