The woman was helped from Ingleborough's summit by fellow walkers

A walker attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge was stretchered off the hillside after injuring herself.

Fellow walkers helped the 19-year-old woman from the summit of Ingleborough this afternoon after she suffered a severe groin strain.

They managed to get her a couple of kilometres along the path towards Horton in Ribblesdale close to The Allotment where members of the Cave Rescue Organisation met the party.

She was stretchered a short distance to one of the team’s vehicles, which then drove her to Clapham, where she was transferred to an ambulance.
