A Sea King winched the walker from the fell

A walker was airlifted from a Lake District fell after becoming unwell.

The 68-year-old was on Carrock Fell today when he suffered a suspected stroke.

Ambulance crew members requested the help of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team and six volunteers set off in one its vehicles to the scene.

A Sea King search and rescue helicopter from RAF Boulmer in Northumberland, which was in the area, flew to the scene and winched the man aboard and flew him for treatment to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

The rescue involved 13 Keswick MRT members.
