The body was found at the foot of Malham Cove

A body has been found at a Yorkshire Dales beauty spot and major rock-climbing venue.

Rescuers were called out this morning to reports of a person with serious injuries after falling from Malham Cove.

A Cave Rescue Organisation spokesperson said the team was alerted about 10.05am.

The spokesperson said: “An initial call to a casualty with serious injuries following a fall at Malham Cove eventually turned into assisting the police with a body recovery from the foot of the Cove.

“CRO teams also checked ledges at the top of the Cove – Caveat Wall – and the left side of Halfway Ledge.”

Malham Cove is an 80m (260ft) limestone crag popular with climbers, walkers and other visitors.
