The walker fell on the limestone pavement above Malham Cove

A walker was rescued after slipping and injuring his head at a Yorkshire Dales beauty spot.

The 81-year-old man was crossing the limestone pavement above Malham Cove today when he fell between two and three metres.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out about 2.40pm and team members and paramedics treated the walker at the scene, before stretchering him to one of the rescuers vehicles.

He was then taken to Malham from where an ambulance took him to hospital.
