A man was arrested in connection with a call for help for an injured walker in north Wales.

Police said the 44-year-old was released on bail following his arrest yesterday on suspicion of wasting police time and causing a public nuisance.

The arrest came after a call was received on Saturday night saying an injured walker needed help near Corwen, on the northern edge of the Berwyn Mountains.

North Wales Police said: “A search was undertaken by North Wales Police officers and mountain rescue but concluded once enquiries revealed the call to be a hoax.”

A police spokesperson said enquiries were continuing.
