A walker had to be rescued after slipping and suffering a suspected broken ankle on the shore of Windermere.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 2.45pm on Saturday to the western bank of the lake.

She was treated at the scene by team members before being carried to a waiting ambulance, which took her to Furness General Hospital, Barrow in Furness, for further treatment.
