A man was rescued from a Snowdonia mountain after spending the night on the hill.
The 77-year-old man was found by a passing walker at lunchtime on Thursday.
Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation was alerted about 1.20pm. Chris Lloyd of the team said the man had gone on to Carnedd Llewelyn to camp for the night.
“Overnight, his tent was damaged by the wind,” Mr Lloyd said. “He tried to find shelter but in the darkness he tripped suffering head and chest injuries.
“While feeling disorientated, he tried to make the 999 call but his phone battery was flat.”
The walker who found him the following day called for help.
Mr Lloyd said: “With the nature of injury and time delay, RAF 22 Squadron [from Valley on Anglesey] was called with three RAF Mountain Rescue Team on board.
“They flew directly to the casualty, landing on and loading the casualty, flying him directly the hospital in Bangor.”
“OVMRO had troops waiting at Oggie Base in case the helicopter was not successful.”

20 June 2014All the mountain rescue services do wonderful work. However, perhaps this time they got it wrong. The RAF Team landing on the casualty is not really the way forward!
