The walkers strayed on to steep ground on Little How Crags

Rescuers were called out twice in the same day to incidents in the Coniston area.

A man and a woman called for help when they got stuck on Little How Crags above Levers Water on Saturday.

The pair strayed on to steep ground while attempting to come down to Levers Hause. Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 4.45pm and 14 volunteers went to the scene.

A team spokesperson said: “They were roped to more even ground and accompanied off the fell by team members.”

At 9.10pm the same evening, the team was called out to help a young man who scalded himself while camping in the Greenburn valley above Little Langdale.

The spokesperson said: “He was treated by team members and stretchered down to one of the team’s Land Rover ambulances and handed over to North West Ambulance Service for the journey to Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The rescue involved 15 team members.
