A mountain biker was rescued after falling on a Lake District route and injuring himself.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Sunday about 9.20am to the site on a bridleway above Bowkerstead Farm, Satterthwaite.

Rescuers said the rider was treated for an ankle injury in the incident. Ambulance staff treated the man at the scene, then Coniston MRT members stretchered the cyclist down to a waiting ambulance which took him to hospital for further treatment.
