An injured walker was helped from a Snowdonia by his walking companions before being met by rescuers.

The 66-year-old man broke his wrist when he fell on to his outstretched arm after slipping while with nine others, on a rocky outcrop on Mynydd Drws-y-Coed.

Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team was alerted today about 12.55pm after the incident near the 695m (2,280ft) peak in the Nantlle Ridge, west of Rhyd Ddu.

The team sent four members from its Porthmadog base, and another volunteer who was nearby also went to the scene.

A team spokesperson said: “In the meantime, the group was given suitable first-aid advice via the telephone, and the male was deemed well enough to being to walk off under the assistance of the other members of his group.

“The group continued to walk, and was met by a team member who escorted them to the roadside.”

He was treated for his injuries then taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor for further medical attention.
