A renowned adventurer helped boost a mountain rescue team’s funds by recounting tales of his record-breaking trips.

Mark Beaumont entertained visitors to Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team’s talk during which he recalled his round-the-world cycle tour and Arctic rowing expedition.

A team spokesperson said the adventurer’s account had his audience enthralled, and was delivered with humour and humility.

Mr Beaumont was also an Olympic torch bearer in 2012 and carried the Queen’s baton in this year’s Commonwealth Games relay.

Dawn MacKinnon, chair of Aberdeen & St John Mountain Rescue Association said: “AMRT is grateful to the Copthorne Hotel for allowing us to host the event, Cotswold Outdoors and Craigdon Mountain Sports for selling tickets and to everyone who helped make the evening a success.

“Thanks also to all those who bought a ticket and helped support AMRT. Above all we would like to thank Mark for agreeing to spend the evening with us and sharing his adventures, and mostly for supporting AMRT.

Following a book signing, team and association members had a chance to chat with Dundee-born Mark at the end of the evening.
