A film-maker is up against a tight deadline in his bid to reach his crowdfunding target for a documentary on a Scottish mountain rescue team.

Glen Travis is trying to raise £2,500 for his film which will tell the inside story of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team.

With only five days left to the midday 26 November cut-off time, the documentary maker is still more than £1,300 short of the amount he needs.

Mr Travis said: “The testimony of team members, past and present, will tell the stories of the volunteers and their experiences in search and rescue. We aim to promote mountain rescue and raise awareness for the teams.

“The film will celebrate the volunteer ethos behind today’s rescue teams and show people what it means to help those that come to grief on the hills. We’re passionate about spreading the awareness of mountain safety and with your support we can.”

He said The Happy Warriors, which he hopes to direct with Rebecca Dale-Everett as producer, is a portrait of a mountain rescue team. “With the testimony of team members past and present, the film tells the stories of the volunteers and their experiences in search and rescue.

“By making a film about the stoic group, who don’t judge those they rescue but foster an appreciation for the landscape and exploring nature, we hope to communicate the dangers in the Cairngorms but also the beauty of the landscape, with its rolling hills and ancient Caledonian forest.

“We have begun production with the team and have also benefited from winter-skills training that has allowed us to shoot in difficult conditions and capture the Cairngorms in winter. Our first shoot in August this year proved that it was possible for us to make this film the way we wanted.”

Members of the public or companies are being asked to pledge cash to help production of the film, starting at £5. Sponsors will receive rewards ranging from thank-you cards to signed posters and DVDs of the documentary once the film is produced in May next year, Mr Travis said.

Details, including how to support the production, are on the Ideas Tap website.
