SnowSpikes Light

SnowSpikes Light

The first snows of the season have already dusted some of the UK’s mountain tops, so walkers need to turn their thoughts to winter.

Snowline SnowSpikes are a useful addition to any outdoor enthusiast’s pack.

They’re no substitute for full crampons in full winter conditions, but these spikes are a versatile option if you’re likely to come across the white stuff on your walk.

Snowline said its two models are designed for anything from day-to-day use to winter cross-country races and long distance treks.

Each comes in a storage case and has 1cm stainless steel spikes with dynamic chain links designed to prevent balling.

The company said: “The lightweight elastomer which provides a secure fitting on a variety of footwear is tested down to –60C to ensure degradation is prevented in all conditions.”

SnowSpikes Pro weigh 370g and fit footwear from insulated winter boots to trainers and cost £44.99 a pair.

The SnowSpikes Light are 27 per cent lighter at just 270g and come with a soft case. The Light versions retail at £55.

Both models can be pulled on in seconds, and have no straps or clips.
