The woman became exhausted near Base Brown

A woman was helped to safety from a Lake District fell after getting into difficulties.

The 40-year-old, who rescuers said had a medical history, was reported to be seriously fatigued above Base Brown.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 2.10pm yesterday, Sunday, and two members who live in Borrowdale headed out to find the walker and her group, while two vehicles with a further 11 team members set off to the area.

Members of the Cockermouth team, which was training close by, were asked to help search the ridge from the Honister direction.

A Keswick team spokesperson said: “The party was turned up fairly quickly in Gillercombe by one of the KMRT members. The casualty was checked over, and was able to walk down to Seathwaite with support.”

The rescue lasted two hours and involved 18 volunteers from the Keswick team.
