A climber suffered multiple injuries when she fell 100ft while walking between pitches on a route in the Yorkshire Dales.

The 36-year-old slipped and fell about 30m on the Hollywood Bowl route at Giggleswick Scar overlooking Buck Haw Brow near Giggleswick yesterday.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was alerted at 3.20 and team members went to the aid of the climber, who suffered suspected head, neck, back and pelvic injuries in the fall.

A team spokesperson said: “Initial treatment was given by team members and ambulance personnel, before the casualty was carried by stretcher to a road ambulance. She was subsequently transferred to an air ambulance for conveyance to hospital.”
