The cavers were trapped in a pothole in Kingsdale

Two cavers were rescued after getting stuck underground in the Yorkshire Dales.

The man and woman were in King Pot in Kingsdale yesterday when they got into difficulties at T-Piece Passage in the system.

Members of the Cave Rescue Organisation were called out about 6pm and three teams of two cavers from the team made their way into the pothole.

They managed to free the two from the cave and escorted them back to the surface, following which they were able to walk with rescuers from the fellside. They were then given a lift back to their car.

Soon afterwards, the CRO was called out again when three walkers got lost on the slopes of Ingleborough in poor visibility near Sulber Nick.

Three rescuers were sent in a team vehicle and found the trio before accompanying them down to their car in Horton in Ribblesdale.
