A walker was airlifted from a Lake District mountain after breaking his arm in a fall.

The 57-year-old was walking in the Red Pike and Ling Comb area today when the incident happened.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 4.05pm and went to the aid of the man.

An air ambulance flew him from the site to Buttermere village where he was transferred to a road ambulance and taken to hospital.

The rescue operation lasted about three hours.
