Sharp Edge has been the scene of numerous falls

A group of walkers helped a woman who was stuck on a notorious Lake District scramble route.

The 27-year-old got cragfast on Sharp Edge on Blencathra on Friday when she became too scared to move.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 2.40pm and sent a Land Rover with team members while other members stood by at base.

A Keswick MRT spokesperson said: “The team got as far as Scales Tarn, when a passing group was able to assist the woman up the grooves to the top of Foule Crag, and a member of Cleveland MRT who was on the hill offered to escort the party down.

“At this point the team stood down.”

Sharp Edge, a grade-one scramble, has been the scene of numerous fatal falls in recent years.
