The company said the Snow & Rock stores would continue alongside existing Cotswold Outdoor stores

The company that owns the Cotswold Outdoor stores has snapped up a rival retailer.

AS Adventure Group announced today it had acquired the Snow & Rock Group.

The stores’ new owners said they would enhance the existing group by extending its activities into snow, cycling and running.

In a statement, it said: “The AS Adventure Group will work with Snow & Rock, alongside its existing Cotswold Outdoor brand, to develop exciting customer propositions across multi-activity categories to become the largest outdoor retailer in the UK with a combined turnover of £210m.

“The AS Adventure Group will in turn cement its position as the leading outdoor retailer in Europe with a turnover of €550m.”

AS Adventure Group itself swapped owners earlier this year when private equity owners Lion Capital sold it to Paris-based PAI Partners.

The new deal will see AS Adventure take over 46 stores in the UK and Ireland, including Cycle Surgery and Runners Need brands.

The group’s chief executive Frederic Hufkens said: “We look forward to working with these exciting brands, helping to maximise their potential and therefore, the potential of the whole AS Adventure Group.”
