Police on the Isle of Skye have appealed for the public’s help in finding a walker who has not been seen for more than a week.

They said there are concerns for the wellbeing of Stephen Russell who was last seen in Portree.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said the 43-year-old is an experienced hillwalker with good local knowledge. He was seen in the Blaven Road area of the town on Tuesday 9 June.

He is described as 5ft 10ins (1.78m), of slim build and with a shaved head and black beard. The spokesperson said: “Stephen usually wears a beanie-type hat and a blue waterproof jacket and carries walking gear. He may also be wearing sunglasses.”

Anyone with information on Mr Russell’s whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101.
