A teenager suffered possible spinal injuries in a fall from a Yorkshire Dales crag.

The 16-year-old fell from Castlebergh Rock overlooking Settle yesterday.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out about 1.35pm on Monday to the incident and joined ambulance crews at the scene.

The boy was on a steep, tree-covered slop below the crag and rescuers said he had possible neck and spinal injuries.

A CRO spokesperson said: “While paramedics undertook casualty care, the team used a vacuum mattress and lightweight stretcher to extricate the casualty from the slope, and transport him to a waiting road ambulance.”
