A group of walkers was rescued after getting lost coming down a mountain in north Wales.

Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 6.15pm on Monday when the four walkers became disoriented in very poor visibility near a lake in the Cwm Croesor area.

The group set off from Croesor to walk up Cnicht, but got lost when they were enveloped in mist while coming down from the summit.

An Aberglaslyn MRT spokesman said: “No one in the party had a map or a compass, or any other adequate navigation equipment.

“Using the Sarloc system the exact location of the party was made available to the team’s co-ordinator.

“Aberglaslyn MRT deployed team members to the area to assist the party off the hill.”

The rescue ended at 9.30pm.
