The fifth Alpkit Big Shakeout will take place in September this year
An outdoor gear brand has announced it will hold its fifth festival in the Peak District in autumn.
The Alpkit Big Shakeout will take place in September at the Thornbridge outdoor activities centre, with a range of adventurous events plus music and films.
The outdoor festival is run on a not-for-profit basis by the Nottinghamshire-based brand.
Col Stocker, Alpkit co-founder, said: “The Big Shakeout has grown every year and 2015 is set to be the best yet.
“The festival format is very simple, designed to bring people from all walks of life who love the outdoors together to share the magic of summer’s adventures. It’s all about being active during the day and entertained in a relaxing, sociable environment in the evening.
“With world class rock-climbing, challenging mountain biking, beautiful caves and fine walking terrain all within a 20-minute radius from Thornbridge Outdoors, you can easily take advantage of the location and do your own thing during the day, or try something new on site.”
The Big Shakeout 2015 includes a programme of specialist courses with qualified instructors ready to introduce people to new sports or coach those who just want to brush up on their skills.
There will also be help on hand for parents to tire out their little explorers from wild swimming and walking to caving, climbing, biking and bushcraft activities.
Mr Stocker said: “The Big Shakeout is an all-inclusive festival with a magical atmosphere. Everyone is welcome from frost-bitten polar explorers to first time hillwalkers and people who just want to try something new or introduce children to the outdoor life.
“It’s the perfect place to meet like-minded folks, make new friends and catch up with old ones.”
An individual weekend pass includes camping, Saturday night meal, on-site activities, live music, lectures and adventure films from Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon. A family weekend pass is valid for up to two adults and two children and includes everything on the individual pass.
