The OR Splitter Glove

The OR Splitter Glove

‘Say goodbye to tape forever’, says Outdoor Research.

The tape in question is the stuff you traditionally wrap round your hand to protect it on rock routes, and the reason OR reckons you can say goodbye is its new Splitter Glove.

Unveiled here in the UK at the recent Kendal Outdoor Retail Show, the Splitter is aimed at climbers tackling crack routes. There is no added padding and the gloves have a non-slip synthetic leather back over the synthetic suede main section.

The Splitter has been designed with climber Hans Florine and tested on Yosemite’s granite.

The gloves are easy to put on: simply slip fingers and thumb through the holes and fasten with the hook-and-loop cuff closure.

The Splitters weigh 32g a pair, and will be in UK shops in spring next year, retailing at £25. Sizes are XS, S/M and L/XL.
