A walker was airlifted to hospital after falling on steep ground in the Yorkshire Dales.

The 47-year-old woman was walking above the village of Kettlewell today when she injured herself.

Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association was called out to help the ambulance service about 11.30am.

A team spokesperson said: “After administering pain relief, the casualty was stretchered down to the valley. The air ambulance then transported the casualty to hospital.”

The rescue involved 17 volunteer members of the Grassington-based team.
